Early Essential Newborn Care (EENC) focuses on improving the quality of care during and immediately after birth in order to reduce newborn mortality globally. Eight priority countries where newborn mortality is high in the Western Pacific Region have rolled out early essential newborn care (EENC) since 2013. These country profiles summarize progress in EENC programmes, covering scale-up readiness, clinical practices, availability of medicines and supplies, and environmental hygiene.
