Regional IPC Progress

Infection prevention and control (IPC) is a core health-system function that protects patients, health and care workers, families and communities from healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Strong IPC also underpins antimicrobial resistance containment, patient safety, quality of care, universal health coverage and health security.

This dashboard tracks regional and country progress in strengthening IPC across the Western Pacific Region. It draws on the 2025 Western Pacific Regional IPC Survey, country benchmarking against the WHO Global Action Plan and Monitoring Framework on IPC, and assessments of HAI surveillance capacity at national and facility levels.

It is aligned with global and regional guidance — the WHO Global Strategy on IPC; the WHO Global Action Plan and Monitoring Framework on IPC 2024-2030; the WHO Global Report on IPC 2024; the WHO Minimum Requirements for IPC Programmes; and the Asia Pacific Health Security Action Framework — and supports implementation of the Regional Action Plan on Strengthening IPC in the Western Pacific Region 2025-2030.
